Troubleshooting Apple Pencil with Sidecar

I have setup sidecar with my 2018 MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and Apple Pencil v1. However, I just can't get anything from the pencil when using sidecar. I have tried re-pairing it and hunting though settings to see if there is something I missed switching on. Any suggestions?

As far as I'm aware there is nothing to configure, it should just work. Certainly has here, other than the pressure curve seeming too firm.

The impression I got was it should just work, sadly, it does not work at all. Even after rebooting, logging in and out of iCloud and all the other steps one would hope where unnecessary.
