Hello all,
The battery in my 10.5 inch iPad Pro isn't lasting as long as I believe it should be. I mainly browse the web on safari and take notes using the pencil with notability and goodnotes 5 and can't get more than 6 hours of screen on time. For instance, yesterday I took notes in class and the battery dropped 23% after one hour of usage. Tried goodnotes instead of notability for the next hour, but saw similar numbers.
My current settings:
Things I have tried to solve this problem, unsuccessfully:
Nothing seems to have helped. I don't think a particular app is the culprit here because on weekends the only app I use is Safari and I still get around 6-7 hours of screen on time with very low brightness. The advertised 10 hours of "normal usage" looks way out of reach for me at this point. I was never amazed by the battery in this device, but now I can't get through a day since I work during the day and take courses at night.
Is there a setting that I might be overlooking here?
Any help is highly appreciated. I'm from Brazil, so no Apple stores nearby and no phone or chat support since the iPad is out of warranty. Got the health status from an authorised service provider.

My current settings:
- Latest iPadOS version
- No beta profile
- Brightness always at around 30-40%
- Auto-brightness on
- Truetone on
- Handoff on
- Keyboard cover always attached, but very rarely used
- Apple Pencil always nearby and used extensively for notes and scrolling in safari.
Things I have tried to solve this problem, unsuccessfully:
- Reset to factory defaults
- Check the battery health with Apple (Apple says 97% at 180 cycles, coconut battery and iMazing both show the exact same number: 88.7% at 180 cycles as well)
- Turned handoff off
- Use the iPad without the keyboard case
- True Tone off
