Although i praise truphone for having an app, their rates are a bit higher compared to skype.I already pay 2.95/month on skype for those unlimited calls to the Us/Canada and have forwarding numbers around and its so far good from the mac etc etc
I hate to pay 15$ for truphone which gives 1000 mins to north america and it seems sms is pricey too.
Any idea when skype is releasing something.

yes and so does nimbuzz which i found to be a lot better in terms of sound quality. however u can't dial numbers so you'll have to store them as contacts in your skype list on the computer first :S

Fring

I make Skype out calls all the time with Fring. just the other day i made a call to a European number that i don't have in my contacts. In fact, I just moved to Europe and no longer have an active sim in my iPhone so the only calls I make now are through Skype Out via Fring.

truphone has been out for a while now
it's one of the first voip app on the iphone, before fring and nimbuzz were released
call quality on the truphone is not bad and I keep it on the iphone for emergencies but for regular calls I now use nimbuzz

I have fring too but cant skype out when you on ure 3g network since its made to work only on wifi.
Same with truphone.
So regardless of the voip based app, you cant call on ure data network.
sucks
