So, I had started a thread about readability of the 10.5 ipp compared to my laser-sharp 9.7 ipp. In the end, I returned the 10.5 and happily went back to my 9.7 determined to wait until the Fall to try again.

Missing the bigger screen (and generally being an iPad junky and having little self control), I pulled the trigger again today and picked up a 256 gb 10.5. The result: A MUCH better screen and better readability. My original 10.7 screen had a pervasive yellow hue that drowned out text. This new screen is so much better. It actually turns blue/white with TT turned off, and a much milder warm yellow with TT on. No yellow band or dark areas. I read a technical article for an hour today with no headache. It seems to me that there was a bad batch of screens out there. This one is so much a better that I have already packed up my 9.7 for sale on eBay.

If you have had the blurry/eye strain issue with the 10.5, think hard about exchanging it. Perhaps it's luck of the draw, or just maybe an initial flow of not-so-great units has passed through the system.

(As a side note, I looked at some display iPads at the Apple Store. I found two that had very serious yellow bands on one edge of the screen.)

I think if anyone has a 10.7 inch iPad, they should definitely hang on to it since it's probably the only one in existence! :p

Seriously though, it's great you're happy with your 10.5. :)

There is definitely a plethora of iPads that have all the issues you noted in your post with the yellow band and dark spots. Glad you found a good one. Perhaps early on production issues. Here is a thread discussing some of those issues:

What are the first 2 digits of your serial #?

Hi Mark, any update on your last ipp 10.5? Can you confirm that this unit it's ok and you no more had eyes fatigue and headache when reading text for a lot of time?

I'had bought ipp 10.5 at day one but it was very very hard to read for my eyes and I returned it. If you confirm that NOW you have no issues I try a second time otherwise I will get a budget ipad 2017

I had the same issue with both of my iPads. You get used to it. And the headache and eye strain goes. Completely. Reducing the brightness helps too.

Thanks for your feedback... however the problem is not on my eyes (that works good and easyly with other iPad models and electronics devices....) but it's on iPad 10.5 screen issue. You can find many threads on this...but I don't want reboot the thread.... I've write here only for know a update from the Mark experience
