Trying out Google Music but I have some questions

Thought I would post here to see if anyone has moved from iTunes Match to Google Music.
I am in the process now of importing my 30,000 song library from iTunes over to Google, first thing I am noticing, Google is not matching anything. It is literally uploading everything. It has been 1 day and just over 8000 songs have uploaded so I clearly have another 2 or 3 days to go. I find it rather puzzling considering I have a pretty high match rate in iTunes, about 92% of my library.
My questions:
1. Does Google not have a match feature similar to iTunes Match to cut down the time on uploads?
2. For those that have been using Google Music, how are you enjoying it compared with iTunes Match and what differentiating factors make it better or worse?
3. Does the Google Music app on iOS work with the free tier of Google Music?

I'm not sure about the match feature, but what makes it better for me is that it works also on Android and it seems more reliable than iTunes Match was. The free tier works for listening to your own library on both iOS and Android.

I'm not sure about iTunes Match as I haven't used iTunes in a long time. However to answer your third question, yes it does!

Also, Google Music is a much better value IMO than Apple Music because it comes with YouTube Red. Ad Free YouTube is an amazing experience

1. Google Music does match music libraries like iTunes but literally uploads your entire library

2. I never used Match as I just kept my music stored locally on my iPhone. Having my entire library available on Google Music has worked just fine, letting me stream or download locally if I won't have data access.

3. As mentioned, yes.

Even though I predominantly use Apple gear, I prefer Google Music over Apple for 2 reasons.

1. Casting ability to Chromecast Audio or any Cast compatible device. I have a multi room setup using Chromecast Audio and can't replicate it using AirPlay, nor does Apple Music have Cast ability.

2. As @soulreaver99 mentioned, YouTube Red. That alone makes it a better value, IMO.

However, Google Music works nicely on iOS.

"It sucks" is kinda vague, can you be more specific?

I switched to Google Music from Apple. My only complaint is about the upload process and duplicates. If I buy a new computer or reinstall Music Manager it will reupload everything with no way to only scan for changes. Then unlike ITunes there isn't an easy way to deal with all of the duplicates.

It's much slower and choppy on Android vs the built in music app on iOS. On occasion, it's choppy enough that I have to close it and reopen. This is on all my Android devices. I will say, the it came a long way from when it was first available for Android. Maybe in due time, it will be just as fluid as on iOS.

Google Music is just as good on both platforms.

The winner for cross platform is still Spotify, I use bluetooth for my Amazon Echos and GM. Just purchased a few Google Home devices and probably will sell the Echos. The alexa app is as bad as Roku, great UI for 2009.

Man, I wish I had your problem when I uploaded my songs to Google Music. Lol So many of my songs changed from explicit versions to clean and vice versa. I also had several songs mess up the song titles, album artwork, change to a different version of a song, or change to something completely different. It would have been nice to just upload every song instead of matching.

But that was years ago and I've since fixed everything I needed to fix. But to answer your questions:

1. It's supposed to. Unless something has changed since I did it years ago. Maybe Google doesn't match songs now unless it's 100% accurate.

2. I never used iTunes Match, but I've been using Google Music since it came out and now I use Google Play Music All Access or whatever it's called now and I love it. The iOS app is a little buggy but it works.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! It finally finished uploading last night. Oddly, I needed to redownload 34 songs from iTunes that had DRM detection for some reason, but I got that fixed.
I think Instant Mixes are better than Genius from my experience so far and yes, the iOS app is a little buggy, but not too bad. I don't mind the layout and it is working well for me so far.
Not sure if I will stick with iOS in the long term.

I moved to Apple music on Android because my carrier gives me unlimited free data for Apple music. I agree it is not as smooth as Google Play Music and i find the UI to be clunky compared to Google Play Music. However i love the lyrics feature and the radio stations on Apple Music.

If you're the type that lets a playlist go though or listen to the stations, it's not bad. But I'm the type that constantly switches and searches music. I also scrub songs a lot to listen to certain parts of a song over. Google music just flows much better with my kind of usage.

Oh i completely agree, hence my comment about the UI being clunky with Apple Music. Google Play Music allows me to switch songs/Artists/albums so much quicker. Its just the Lyrics feature and the radio stations that i like. If it was not for the free data deal on Apple music i would be using Google Play Music without a doubt.

2. I have both iTunes match and Google Music. I prefer Google Music simply because it is more device agnostic than just iTunes match on its own.
3. Not sure as I subscribe at the old grandfathered price.

i'v used both. I too ad issues with dues on google music, plus i find from a pure sound quality apple music sounds fuller maybe its the aac vs mp3's

You must tell Google Play Music to download High Quality in settings. Otherwise it may default to lower quality streams / versions.

I like Google Play Music; it performs as well on my iDevices as on Android.

I've got around 100GB music stored on my Xperia which I can listen to with PowerAmp but I rarely bother. I also like the various stations on Play Music - it's sure to recommend one I like.
