Hi everyone,

I apologize for my bad english.

I have an ancient iPhone 4S, it's screen is cracked and it only shows red or green lines. I plan to get rid of it, but before that I'm trying to copy the photos from it to my laptop. But though the phone is working, this can't be done, since I can't enter the passcode (I remember it but can't enter it).

Some people suggest buying a USB keyboard, but I doubt that I can find one which can connect to the 4S connector (I'm not an expert really). Another problem will be how to press "Trust this computer" after I enter the passcode.

By using some programs (3uTools, iFunbox etc..), I'm able to see the iphone files on my laptop's screen (as in a file explorer), but I'm unable to export them to the laptop (due to the passcode lock). If I choose "Export to PC" nothing happens. This is very frustrating, cause the files are there, they are not lost and I can see them (e.g. XY.jpg or XY.mov), but I can't save them.

I also tried some programs for passcode removal, but it's futile.

So before I finally give up, can you tell me, please, is there something else I can try?

Thank you very much.

The only solution I can think of is if your photos are stored in iCloud. If so, you can log into iCloud from your laptop and download from there.

Seems your laptop isn't trusted by iPhone. Perhaps you have to fix up the screen...

Thanks, Namara, but they're definetly not on iCloud. I have never used that.

Thanks, Camile Dai, but when the phone was working I was using it with this laptop. They were working together for a long time. But that doesn't help, I still have to enter the passcode.

I have just one more idea before I dispose of the phone:
Normally, I have the iPhone 4s cable (30-pin connector to USB), so can I buy a female-to-female USB adaptor and connect an ordinary USB keyboard to the phone, so I can enter the passcode?

Then there will be another problem, in case the phone asks me to click "Trust", but maybe this can also be done by using the keyboard?

Thanks.

You don't need to "Trust" the computer if it was paired previously. In worst case, go to the nearest trusted repair shop and ask if they can temporarily install a new screen to make a backup. It should be cheaper than replacing the screen.

Did you try disable the hotpot? That might be helpful to get avoid of entering passwords. :(
