So i have the case, brand new,

I would like to build my own tower, I would like inside:

Blu Ray Drive(I know the OS doesn't support it yet, but I heard soon it will and i would like to at some point have a 30" HD screen that will be able to show BR)
Storage-500GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
Processor-Two 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Memory-4GB
ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB(so I can possibly run two 30" hd screens)
1 optidrive
motherboard
power supply
AirPort Extreme Card (Wi-Fi) (so i don't have to run wiring to my office)

I know this may sound dumb, but trying to see if it's just cheaper to try and build one versus buying one........for $2900 bucks.

There are many threads on this - (sorry I cant look them up right now) but I must say it actually works out the same if not a little cheaper to buy a Mac Pro than build one to the same spec.

You could build one of lower spec (cheaper components etc) but dont expect it to perform or last as well.

The other thing is that you need a genuine MAC to use OSX (unless you get it illegally - NAUGHTY!).

I would say its far better value to go genuine (and less of a headache in the long run).

The two processors alone, assuming you get them brand new will cost you $850 EACH, add on two heat sinks @ $100 each and you're already at $1900. Next step is finding the motherboard which will be the next most expensive thing, probably between $600-$650.

yeah, not worth it if you're going to use xeons.

a cord duo quad or two on the other hand.....
