Hello All,

Finally was able to pick up my iPhone x tonight (upgrading from an iPhone 6+,) however, two apps that were on my old iPhone 6 plus (no longer on the app store) that didn't carry over to my iPhone X.

Is there a way for me to move them over to the iPhone X? I did an iTunes restore from the back up of my old phone and that didn't do anything. I remember back in the day there used to be an apps section in iTunes but that I can't find it. They are still on my iPhone 6+. Would like to move them over before I wipe my old phone. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If they do not show up in the app store, then they are likely 32-bit only and will not work in iOS 11 and above (64 bit apps only). For a while now you should have gotten warnings about how the app would allegedly slow down your phone. This was Apple trying to encourage 64 bit app adoption.

When you connect to iTunes you should see which iOS version you have. Or you can go to Settings > General > About.

If you are really sure they are not 32 bit then you can check if you still have them (Music > iTunes > iTunes Media > Mobile Applications). If you do, you can still manually load them on your phone using a special iTunes edition. See: https://www.macrumors.com/2017/10/09/apple-itunes-with-app-store-included/.

They removed apps from iTunes for some reason that only makes sense to Apple. You need to have its 12.6.3 installed to get them back, which was a special release. It might go away, but for now you can have app back.

How old were these apps? If they were 32bit only then there's no way to ever get them on an iPhone X.

If your old iPhone 6+ is on iOS 11 and those apps will launch then they are 64bit.

On your iPhone X, open the appstore then go to your account and search for those apps in your purchase history.

Sometimes, some apps that are removed from the appstore will still show up in your download history.

Thank you I will try this as soon as I can. They worked fine on my 6+ running 11.1 but they aren’t on the App Store anymore. Hoping this works so I can move them over.
