Here are images of internal and ports. Anything obviously wrong with it? When I plug in the charger no light appears

GENTLY clean BOTH the Magsafe charger plug and the port on the Mac.

(as mentioned above, are those "burn marks", probably from poor contact?)

If that doesn't help...
Is there a brick n mortar Apple Store anywhere near?
If so, I'd make an appt at the genius bar, then ask them to connect one of THEIR chargers to it.

If it accepts the signal and begins to charge, then I'd guess the fault may be in YOUR charger.
If the results are the same as yours (no charge), then it might be [what I think may be called] the "DC in" board on the MBP? (assuming it has one)

Final thought...
After 12 years, might be time to start thinking "replacement Mac".
You don't want to be putting too much money into this one...
