What I want to use it for is to write notes but also I want to prepare for example markdowns for GitHub and also release notes.
When I'm preparing release notes I use to write it in markdown as I can use it at GitHub but I also need to convert it to word document or PDF so I can publish it on internal sites.

I have Bear and Drafts today, the fallback with drafts is that it can't export to word as far as I can see and it can't add images to the notes.

Any suggestions?

I am using IA Writer. It is a pure text app with good markdown support. You can add images. You can also export to Word but I haven’t tried that myself yet.

This looks interesting, I’ll check it out and I love that you only pay one time for it also.
And family sharing ! That’s great!

I use UpNote. https://getupnote.com/

An excellent cross-platform markdown note editor that can export to PDF. You can try it out for free. They have a subscription option and a perpetual license option. $30 for the perpetual license that is good for all platforms is just icing on the cake.

I did go for IA Write, the price was not to high and it’s not a subscription. I love it! And as we are three that’s taking notes in the family it’s perfect as it’s shared trough the family

I second that. Excellent note app, with Apple-like UI. No web version though, but syncing with my Android works flawlessly. The Android app is excellent too. UpNote makes automatic backups on your Mac (if you want). You can also export a note (or all notes) to various formats. You can nest folders at least 10 levels deep and folders can be given colors and images.

Out of the box it is not a markdown note editor, but you can use markdown if you like. It has the feel of a RTF editor and has lots of formatting possibilities. And undo/redo on the mobile app!

Two weeks ago, after using the free version for some days, I was offered a lifetime subscription for €15. No-brainer.

Thanks. You are correct. It ISN'T a markdown note editor (in that markdown typed in doesn't stay as markdown) but will accept markdown and convert it to its internal formatting... and can export to markdown.

The lack of a web version is the only (minor) ding about it. But the Android version works very well on my chromebooks.

Like Stand-alone apps, so not having a web version isn't an issue for some... :)

Thanks for the recommendation user: sracer. GetupNote app looks like a nice general use app. Mac style which is a plus.

Obsidian for markdown notes (free). Marked for a wide variety of export options (including word).

I second Obsidian. Have replaced OneNote with it and am very pleased! Nice to control the files and the sync.

How is Obsidian at handling a lot of photos per note? I went to the site and they look like they handle text pretty darn well, but it doesn't say much about photos. Also, I see they have a sync function, which is encrypted, however, do you have to use their sync services? Can you use a cloud storage service to do the same? The interface and what it does looks freaking beautiful. Wowzers...

You can use your own cloud solution. I run mine through iCloud Drive. You could run it through Dropbox, Google Drive, hell, you could run it through a Git Repo if you wanted to! Unfortunately it doesn't have any image support, it's for text only.

Rats... thanks for the response regarding the sync function. Boy it does look super nice though. Might look into and give it a whirl for my own notes at work.
