Trying to get a base layout like this example.. Help?

Hello, I am trying to create a blog to display some of my photography, projects, information, etc. I figured a WordPress theme like the one on this site would be perfect for what I am trying to create:

I don't want to rip off their layout, I want to recreate something similar to that layout, but add my own header, images, etc, and make it my own. Is their a base layout theme that is like that one that can help get me started?

If anyone can help me out to get my vision perfected like that, I will gladly pay you for your support.

Hope you're not offended when I interject that the color scheme and layout is very unsightly and top heavy for that page. Even the font selection is little to be desired. Whatever ya find out there, improve upon it, my .02 BTW, contact "Jay and Chris" at that site, according to the info bottom right - be honest with 'em and usually developers don't mind sharing a basic template if you promise you'll modify it enough and use your own graphics.
