I am trying to share files from an iMac Pro to a MacBook Pro, though when I access the iMac from the MacBook Pro all of the folders have red minus signs through them.

- both Macs are on the same network
- the iMac has File Sharing enabled
- I added the HD as a Shared Folder
- my name is on the list of users with read and write access (not sure if my name was already here or if I added it)
- I delete my name and try re-adding it though my name shows under the Users & Groups and within the Contacts
- I add my name based on the record in the Contacts
- it prompts me to create a password and I do, it then indicates system preferences is trying to modify the directory services configuration, and after I approve nothing ever happens it just gets stuck on the small window showing all of the contacts

What do I need to do?

Thanks

I don't think you can share the HD drive. Try sharing your entire user folder or a folder(s) under your user folder and see if that works.
