I got my iPhone 3g last night, and I'm trying to jailbreak using Pwnage on my aluminum Macbook Pro. Unfortunately, after I get to the DFU mode, iTunes doesn't recognize the iPhone. I get an error 2100. I did a search and googled it and it seems some people are having the same issue but I haven't found a resolution yet. I think it has something to do with the new MBPs. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

What is the difference between just jailbreaking iPhone and fully unlock like the one I am trying from http://www.iphone-sim-unlock.com
I thought its better to fully unlock it than just jailbreak it. Am I wrong?
Jaibreaking means that you can use other than apple software vs. unlock which means you can use your iphone on any network

Software Unlock is not possible on iPhone 3G. Unlock can corrupt the baseband voiding warranty and bricking iPhone.
Jailbreak is 100% safe, reversible and opens the device to third-party applications. Some of my favorites are PdaNet and Cycorder. Many people do it for Winterboard alone; I discovered it slowed things down too much though.
Seems that either the build of 10.5.5 only on new machines isn't playing nice with PwnageTool. Have you tried PwnageTool AND QuickPwn? I hope it isn't hardware related. Also try different USB ports.
