hey guys

I've downloaded an ISO file. It gives me the option to open it with OneDrive, Av player, Documents and TDownloader however none of them work. I read that the file can be opened with vlc but the "open in" isn't giving vlc as an option.

I've trie importing them to each app then seeing if I can open them with vlc but no luck. Is there any app that will open and play an ISO or how do I add vlc as an option? I only have an iPad, no computer...

Thanks

Well, ISO is basically an image of a disk, right? If it's a video disk basically then something like VLC could potentially handle it. But it seems like it would really depend what it is an image of.

Mmm thanks

But like I said I'm not given the option to open it with vlc...

It recognizes as an ISO in all other apps but I can't get vlc on the "open in" list.

Is it saved on iCloud? I would try adding it via the built-in server. It's under Network. Turn that on, go to the IP address on Safari, hit the + button, then grab it from there.
Thanks for your reply

I only have an iPad and iPhone so I'm not sure how I would do the network part. I can however upload it to iCloud.

Interestingly, in TDownloader, the file offfers at ftp and in address when selecting the file. Could I use either of these in VLC? Again this is all on and iPad

Hmm, you can open a Network Stream via FTP in VLC.

It has support for OneDrive too by the way. Not sure how big your file is though, but then that'd be the same issue with iCloud probably.

Ok, im surprised there isn't an app for iPad to open these files.

So it might be worth just uploading it to a cloud and trying it I guess but it's nearly 2 gig

I tried a test ISO file last night and that loaded and played fine. So hopefully it worked/will work for you too. Most of my video files are mkv and then just the usual QuickTime supported formats.

Can I ask how did u test it? Did it involve a desktop or laptop or was the file in the cloud? As mentioned I only hv an iPad.

I used File Sharing in iTunes that time, just tried again doing it through VLC itself. Within the app, it won't let me select the ISO through cloud services, but it does let me select it through Sharing via WiFi in Safari (on the iPhone).

Just uploading to OneDrive at mo, can i use the safari method with this or does it have to be iCloud?

Sorry this is the first time trying to do this
