Trying to see how good/bad AT&T is in my area (NJ)

I apologize if this was asked already I did multiple searches first so don't shoot me :)

I've been a Verizon user for years but can't stand my blackberry Storm. My twe brothers have an I-phone and love it so I am considering getting it also ( I feel left out).

Problem is before I take the plunge I want to assure myself that I wont be getting the dropped calls or poor bar strength I hear so much about.

I live in (Northern) New Jersey, Does anyone else here live around that can tell me if they have nay problems or do you know where I can research this further.

Jav- I asked the one that lives near me and he said one thing then someone else said he's been getting dropped calls but its getting better with time (he thinks they are adding towers).

I use the phone so much for work I just want to make sure it's ok

It's hard to get an unbiased opinion most people are lovers or haters very few are in the middle of the road. I love the Verizon service but hate the phones.
 
I'm in central/northern Jersey (just south of 78 and 22, about 20 miles from NYC), and constantly have full bars with 3G. Never had a dropped call, but there have been a few calls I just never got, and would get notified about a voice mail hours later in the day.I worked in Morristown, and had great 3G there too.
 
I'm from Northern NJ. I've always been on Verizon. In my experience though, my friends with AT&T would have good coverage a good amount of the time but when inside buildings the connection would be pretty bad.
 
Yes, AT&T is horrible when it comes to signal penetration with buildings. So if you work in a building and rely heavily on your phone, I would reconsider jumping ship to AT&T.
 
I live in central Jersey and I practically get full coverage everywhere, including highways. I can get better coverage in some areas than people I know with Verizon. Usually if someone is getting better coverage between someone with a ATT phone and a Verizon phone, it's almost always the person with the ATT phone, including rare times when a Verizon phone doesn't get coverage. I haven't had any coverage problems in northern Jersey, either. It seems that NJ is the best place to use ATT in, even though Verizon does have better nationwide coverwide.

I'm going to spend the next couple of days asking as many people as I can about their call quality then go from there.
