I have an M1 MBA but was considering either the 16" M1 Pro or 16" M3 Pro. I was sitting for a few minutes trying to justify the upsell to myself but it's honestly pretty hard. If you don't care too much for power and the M1 Pro is enough for most stuff, then there really isn't too much difference? Slightly better bluetooth (goes far enough for me already) slightly better wifi (never had a problem with wifi I already have) and AV1 decoder which I guess is nice if I'm spamming YouTube/Netflix for extra battery life but not sure how much it's worth...def not an extra $700. Is there anything else I'm missing if power just doesn't enter into it much unless there's a 5+ year difference? (which I'll be upgrading again when OLED comes out anyways)
Raytracing too I almost forgot, but I only play League of Legends and World of Warcraft most of the time and I doubt it's gonna really blow me away. I dodge max graphics for BGs/Raids anyway just to play it safe with lag spikes. Doesn't even seem like most games do much with raytracing in the first place outside of triple A which I don't touch.
Also has anyone been using the M3 with FCPX? Doesn't seem like everyone is experiencing it but I have seen videos where people are having issues with Final Cut playback/exports, sometimes being slower than even the M1 models. Does FCPX just need an update to handle the new dynamic memory feature?
