Hey guys!

So my friends iPhone 5s had an issue where it got stuck in the apple logo boot screen. So he restored his phone, but when he gets to the point where he inputs his iCloud log in, his password didn't work. So he tried to restore his password on the computer, but it needs to be able to send a number to his phone (the one he can't even use) to change his account password. He's tried to do the account recovery online by sending the code to my phone and that didn't work. He talked to Apple support, and they said "there's nothing we can do". Does anyone have any ideas as to what he can do? Because as of right now, his phone is basically bricked at this point and he can't reset his account because he can't use his phone. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Go in to an Apple Store.
That's true, but we were trying to figure out. He lives 2 hours away from me so I was trying to see what was possible with going to the Apple Store being the last resort at the moment

I'm going to assume you're being honest and that you aren't asking for a work around for iCloud Activation lock (there is no workaround).

In that case, when you go to the Apple store (because you will have to if this is legit) your friend will need to present a receipt for the device as well as any identity proof Apple may require.

I suspect though that your friend doesn't have that and that's probably why Apple wouldn't help you the first time.

It is not a stolen phone, it is his phone. But it's the only iOS device he owns as well as being his phone. So, when the password recovery says to use his phone, he can't. He had to do a restore of the phone after it got stuck on an apple logo loop. After that he got into the point where it needs him to log into his iCloud, which he forgot his password to, or well, thought it was the right password, but actually wasn't. So he had the recovery website send a verification code to my phone but can't get any further than that.

So, the code is not showing on his screen is the problem?

Maybe a hail mary, but try removing the SIM from the phone and then having the code sent.

I had an issue where I couldn't forward iMessages/calls to a device (because the code would not show on the screen) because it shared the number of another device (two different carrier SIMs that had the same number). Removing the SIM caused the device to receive the code.

No idea if that will work but at this point worth a try anyway.

You can put his SIM card into a different phone, iPhone, Android, doesn't matter. That way it will be using the same Phone Number. He can then get a verification code sent his phone number to log in.

He's thought of putting it into another phone and trying that. Because he's stuck on the screen in iOS when it sets up. So all those "pages" you have to go through when you first set up an iPhone and he got to the point where it wants him to sign in and that's as far as he got. So he's not even on the home screen for a notification to pop up.

Very true....

Oh I see!

Don't set up iCloud right now. You don't HAVE to when working through the setup screens. Set it up after you've gotten to the springboard (the screen where your apps are located).
