Is there a way that I can copy my itunes files from my video ipod, which is linked to my imac, onto my MBP? The only external HD that I have is the ipod and I don't have a blank DVD, USB cable, ethernet cable or a FW cable for migration assistant. I do have a bunch of blank CD's but that would take forever.

There is a new feature that will let you share purchased music between computers if each computer is authorized to play that account's music.

I'm not sure if this feature is with iTunes 7 or the new iPods.

I am 99% sure that it is in iTunes 7. It is under the file menu. The target computer (MBP) will have to be authorized in order to play the music.

If you have some drive space on the iPod, just drag the files from the Finder onto the iPod like you would any other file that you are backing up. Compress them with Stuffit first if you like, to fit more per transfer

Or if your iPod is already full of the music, use some shareware like Senuti to copy down the music in it to the new machine.

However, it would be well to get a couple of DVDs for $1 each and make backups of your data, anyway. Don't be pound wise and penny foolish. A cable or two would be a good thing to have around as well.

While I do not have a whole lot of files I purchased from from the itunes store, I do appreciate the help with playing those files on my notebook. I really want to just import my entire itunes library from the ipod to the notebook. Is that possible?

When I connect the ipod to my notebook it opens up in itunes and I can play, edit and even copy itunes from my MBP to the ipod but I can't "copy" or "import" anything from the ipod the MBP.

This isn't a real solution to the problem, and isn't from apple, but:

google "yamipod" or something like that. Those kind of programs take the music off your iPod and onto your computer. I've never used them, and they aren't Apple Certified so use at your own risk. :p

are the two computers on the same network? just copy the files over the network. or go get a standard firewire cable and connect the two computers. start on of them in target disk mode, then just copy the files that way.
