Trying to sync iPod

OK, I have no idea where to put this, Moderators move it if it is out of place.

I just got my Macbook, and I threw all of my music from my HP on to an external hard drive, then put it all on my MacBook. All of the music works great on my Macbook, no issues there, but when syncing I get the error message "attempting to copy to the disk "iPod" failed. An unkown error occurred (-54)". I think it is because some of my songs are corrupt because it always stops at the same point. How do I fix this short of going in and deleting all of the corrupt songs?

Please help, I want my iPod to work again.

Oh btw I did reset everything, all software on Mac and iTunes and iPod is up to date, and iPod is formated for Macs now

Tried restoring the iPod? It should do that when you format anyway, but worth a shot though.

How many songs? I have all my music on an external drive and if the drive isn't plugged in, I get an error if I try to sync to my iPod - so it is possible that maybe some of the files don't exist anymore but are still in the iTunes library listing.

It's a longshot possible solution, but have your music backed up, and erase everything from the iTunes library. Then copy everything back in. That way if you did delete a song from a folder without iTunes knowing, it'll all be corrected now.

i've got the same problem... i use a nano second generation and the itunes 7.3...

it never happened before and as i'm not used to update songs every day (only charge), maybe it's a problem that started after the latest itunes update...

i couldn't find anything on apple's support website, so i hope we'll at least find more people here with the same issue... =S

and hopefully someone with a solution! =)
