Trying to find an answer to this but every search doesn't bring the correct response back.

I've been playing with Google photos for some time but I really struggle when it comes to finding what is saved where and how to access it.

I have all my photos from iOS backed up to Google photos and when I open the app they're there. However, when I am in a messaging app and try to add a photo there are hardly any photos there. In iOS when you want to attach a photo it will show you everything stored in the cloud regardless of whether or not it's downloaded to your phone.

Am I missing something?

Google photos is awesome, with the exception of sharing the photos.

I usually end up finding the photo, saving a copy locally, then sharing it.

If you are using a Samsung phone use the default Samsung's "Gallery" app and create your desired folders and organise/allocate pics accordingly.

Yeah, by default Google Messages only shows the gallery of photos actually taken with the Pixel phone. To access your entire Google Photos library, either click the +, scroll down to ‘Attach file’, then select the Google Photos app or select teh photos/camera shortcut to the left of the text message field, hit the three dots on the right, then ‘Folders’ and then the Google Photos app.

Not really sure why the native Google Messages apps doesn’t directly tie into Google Photos with far fewer steps. ?‍♂️

Ah! Perfect, thank you! Bit of work to get there but sure I can build up some muscle memory for that.
