I am sitting at 10.11 right now. I've heard how easy it is to upgrade the Mac os. Not so fast and it could be because I have an Nvidia GTX 970 as my video card. I have downloaded dosdudes patch to install 10.12, but it needs the System Integration Protection turned off to run. Enter problem, I am unable to get the MP to boot into Recovery mode. I hold down the command R, the MP acts like it is going to boot, then goes right back down. Let go of the keys and it boots up complaining it recovered from an error.. Ideas?

You can disable SIP from the Recovery or from the createinstallmedia USB installer. Make a 10.11 createinstallmedia installer, and keep it safe, you will need it with frequency.
