Trying to use a 3G as an iPod touch -- wifi help please!

Hey everyone!

Wow, I kinda never thought I'd be posting in this forum... I picked up a 3G 8GB with a broken microphone for $75 to use as an iPod. Can I use wifi on it? I wasn't able to connect at school today....

Is there anything special I have to do?

Okay, thanks... see, there's no SIM in it, I think, because it isn't activated. Because I don't have AT&T and don't plan to use it as a phone. I Googled it this morning and seemed to find that you can't use wifi on an unactivated phone? Who knows...

Actually this is what you can do...

You know you can actually invest on a sim card.... Hook it up with a bluetooth headset & still use it as an iPhone..

That'll work right?

Yeah, but I have a Droid which is actually tons faster anyway. I'm just not allowed to bring it to school and Android sucks for listening to music. Happily on wifi now, thanks guys!
