well im trying to get my bluetooth working with my MBP. I have a Verizon RAZR v3m. When i go into the bluetoother file exchange, it tells me "Device does not have the appropriate services." then it just stops.

How do i solve this? I wanna try to transfer wallpaper and pics and maybe ringtones back and forth. Any solution?

Thanks

i think you need to pair it first. go to the bluetooth menu and select "setup bluetooth device" and follow the steps. then try to send file and such.

Verizon - for whatever reason - makes phone+computer Bluetooth communication impossible. i know a lot of people who have tried syncing their phone with their Mac and failed.

sorry, but i don't think is anything you're doing wrong - it's something to do with the phone. hopefully somebody out there can prove me wrong or provide a work-around.

also, i don't know about ringtones, but i know you can e-mail pictures to your (or anybody's) phone. the e-mail address for sending pictures is yourphonenumber@vzwpix.com; i.e., 3105551212@vzwpix.com.

Ooo, if that works, lemme kno.
i've lots of pix to unload off my razr. this is verizons one crippling feature that i've been griping about. there's lots of other things, but since their service is so great in the area, i can put up with em!

i use to have a v3 before, and i flashed the firmware myself (i'm in europe so here they don't cripple phones, maybe they do in england) just for new functionalities and the fun of it. there is pc (and even mac) programs to help you do it yourself.

Sorry to hear that Verizon may not be compatible. I have a Cingular C2125 phone, and I have BT'd many pictures from the phone down to the MBP with no problems at all.

I can verify that the problem is indeed with Verizon. Their corporate policy is to disable the OBEX profiles on Bluetooth enabled phones, in order to promote their own services that transfer pictures, ringtones and video over their wireless network... for an extra fee, of course.

The only profiles you'll see enabled out of the box are headset and DUN (and the latter is only permitted if you pay an extra $40 a month for them to enable it for you on the network side).

Verizon is also notorious for disabling the factory-installed user interface of most phones, and overlaying a BREW-based "universal GUI." The intent is to make the user interface of all of their phones have the same look and feel, but the drawback is that the overlay can significantly impact the phone's functionality and responsiveness.

I know all this because I'm a former Verizon user. I am currently with Cingular/AT&T. :)

I'm having a similar problem, although i am with Cingular/AT&T. I paired my BlackBerry with my mac and can send photos and such from my BlackBerry to my Mac. However, when i try to send anything from my mac to the BlackBerry it says "Device does not have necessary services." Any idea what's going on?
