Tunes Music Store in Europe Sells 800,000 Songs in First Week

Apple® today announced that music fans in the UK, France and Germany have purchased and downloaded more than 800,000 songs from the iTunes® Music Store since its launch one week ago, with more than 450,000 sold in the UK alone. It didn't take very long to become #1, did it? What were the sales in the US in the first week again? (I know it's difficult to compare, since the US launched as Mac-only).

You'd wonder why Coke made such a fuss about being the biggest in Europe just before the iTunes release, surely it just draws attention to their meagre sales now.

Poor, poor Napster.

I normally don't hope a product fails, but in the case of Napster and buymusic.com I make an exception (I actually like buy.com though)

Especially exceptional sales from iTMS, since the Coke store was "ahead of its time".

I've forgotten how many songs were sold in the U.S.A. the first week but it was pretty good. I'm just surprised that U.K. sales were so exceptional, considering the size of the population.
