So I use my iPhone in dark rooms alot, where even when I turn down the brightness all the way in Settings or SBSettings, it's too bright. I checked in com.apple.springboard.plist, and my brightness was around .009. I changed it to .005, and resprung, and it was the darkest I've ever seen it. Problem was, I couldn't change it using the sliders anymore. Resprung the Springboard, and it was back to normal.

So now I know I can change that setting in com.apple.springboard.plist, and that the slider doesn't dim it as much as it could be. Is there a way of changing how dim it could be? How about a terminal command I could run to dim it down temporarily?

Thanks.

Yeah, I keep the auto brightness on. Still too bright.

Have you ever tried turning auto brightness off? I have mine turned off because it seems to try to make the screen brighter when I'm in a dark room, which is the opposite of what I (and apparently you too) want it to do.

where is com.apple.springboard.plist located? I can't seem to find the one with a brightness value. I've even used the ones in the preferences folder.
