How do i turn off the "hollow" stars in iTunes?

Really annoying, if there's a song that i don't want to give a rating for and iTunes forces an average score on me i have to compensate by giving it a single Star.

iTunes Hollow Stars

Try switching view from list to mixed list and album (just left of the 'search music' field at top right). Look down through the albums and wherever one has a black (filled) star by it left-click just to the left of it. Hopefully all related hollow stars should disappear. Then return to straightforward list.
It is annoying though and tends to happen if you shut iTunes down too quickly.

I don't think you can turn off average ratings for albums (e.g. hollow stars will always show up next to the album artwork). However, if you don't yourself go in and rate the album so those fill in, the ratings in the "rating" column should only be those you assign - no hollow stars.

Hope that helped! :)
