General Turn off notifications temporarily

Sometimes I lend my phone or my iPad to a friend to browse or look at something for a bit but I’m always worried that a personal notification will come through.

Is there any way to temporarily turn all notifications off? Would Do Not Disturb work?

Do not disturb. Make sure silence ‘always’ is selected in settings.
