Is there a way to turn off transcribed voice mail messages? I get a call, can't get to the phone quick enough, then see a note saying I have a voice mail EXCEPT there is no way to open it because it's being transcribed somewhere in a tent in Timbuktu or maybe on the dark side of the moon. All I want to do is hear the message in a reasonable time.

I should note I have an X with the latest software. My wife has an 8 and her transcribed message come up immediately.

iOS is transcribing the message. You didn’t think an actual human was that bad at transcriptions did you? A beta human. Lol

I heard changing Siri language (accent) might stop it with a “can’t transcribe” message.

You can listen to a voicemail before it is transcribed.

So, what the time sequence on that? As soon as the red dot appears. And where do you tap to hear a message, on the phone number? I notice most of my Voice Mails several minutes after they're recorded and in sometime over an hour. Then I usually tap here and there before a message appears.

I know these are stupid questions, but I find the transcribed messages very annoying

You can listen to the voicemail as soon as the audio downloads from your carrier. If that isn't even quick enough for you, you can do the old fashion way still and call in to hear your voicemails.

Didn't know there was a callback number with iPhone service to hear messages. Have to look into that.

It's generally for voicemail though the carrier that you are using and have your phone number with.

If the visual voicemail transcription is preventing you from listening your voicemail, you can always dial your phone number to access your voicemail and enter your voicemail password.

There is no feature to turn off transcription at all and most of the time the transcription isn't 100% accurate.

How about using Google Voice? Works great and takes seconds to transcribe messages. Can also listen to them online.
