Meh. I've never seen the appeal here, but I'm a fan of the Logitech/Harmony remotes for home entertainment devices. For TV and movie viewing I want a remote with tactile buttons.

Well, you can control your computer with the IR beamer, but you still can't control your iPad with an iPhone IR beamer. I wonder how long it takes until an IR receiver is built into a dock...

I agree. I have 3 Logitech Harmony remotes and find them invaluable.

I saw one the other day the size of a pen cap that went into the headphone jack, way more appealing than this brick

I think it could come in handy away from home when you want to change the channel of that annoying bar TV. It would be easier to carry the IR adapter than having to have that honkin Harmony remote in your pocket.
