Just upgraded to 10.12, have a slight issue here I am trying to figure out

I have a macbook pro using a external display. In 10.11 I used to use a terminal command to disable the MacBook display and leave the lid open, leaving my external monitor to run the laptop. The terminal command was sudo nvram boot-args="niog=1"

It seems in 10.12 that command no longer works and I v been digging around the internet to see if there is a new work around. But can't seem to find one. Turning to the forum for help

Thanks,
Ag

I didnt know about this terminal command. What I have been doing is opening the display just a slide to make sure the airflow is normal but not triggering the display on.

and here is an app seems could disable the screen, but i dont know if it works on sierra.

I believe the MacBook is designed so that even when the lid is completely closed, you will have a good airflow going on.
