Turning off the iMac screen

When I press the dim button (F1) on my MBP multiple times, the screen dims then goes completely black-perfect. Using the wired Mac keyboard, my iMac screen will not go completely black but rather just goes dim.

Is there any way to get the iMac screen to go completely dark?

I have set up a hot corner to do this for me. all i have to do is move my mouse to the lower right corner of my screen and it turns off.

system preferences > desktop & screen saver > screen saver > hot corner button (bottom left of screen saver panel) > select the desired corner and choose ' put display to sleep'
