turning off the imac screen?

hi folks,

sorry if this is a really bad question, but i don't know anyone who owns an imac and i've never used one for a long period of time

so, on my acd, i can choose to touch a button and turn off the screen when not in use. can i do the same thing on an imac? i don't want to shut the machine off...just the screen so i can tap a button and turn it on when i need to.

hopefully going to mount an imac in my kitchen

System Preferences > Energy Saver > Options tab > Allow power button to sleep the computer (check)

You will now be able to sleep and wake with a quick press of the power button. HTH.
