Before today, I noticed something on my iPhone that I thought was a really thoughtful move on Apple's part: with aulo-lock turned on (to let's say a minute) as long as you were within the iPod part of your iPhone with the album art staring you in face, your iPhone would become dim after 40 secondsish and then just stay at that dimmness until the next time you touched it. This way, to navigate your way around the iPod when you got bored of a song or something, you could just pick your phone up and flick away without having to worry about unlocking the screen . This is as opposed to the screen just blacking out like it would in other applications after one minute of idleness. Bitut as of today I don't have this functionality anymore. Like, if I leave it in iPod mode with big cover art showing, after a minute, the screen completely blacks out, frustrating me when I have to unlock it again to change the song or something. Anyone know how to get that option back?

Odd as I haven't ever had that option. I have a smart list that loads my iPhone with unrated songs every night. I go into work and rate them as I listen to them at work. I would like the dim feature while in iPod as I have been just dimming and turning off autolock to be able to rate the song without having to wake it up each time.

u know...

have u ever thought of being not lazy and just hit the sleep/wake button. maybe if the light just dimmed u would waste more battery and when in ur pocket it will move stuff..

lmao. Are you serious dude? I mean, did you even read my post? This isn't a question of laziness man. Here, lemme give you an example. I have cigarette iPhone mount in my truck. Which do you think is more ideal...:having to unlock the screen while I'm on the road just to change a song or having the iPhone dimmed and only having to tap the screen to get it fully bright and active again and then changing the song? Please, don't question the legitimacy of my request...Rather, please answer the question I clearly asked. Thanks.

ok, FYI, it just started working again out of nowhere. Fine minutes ago, I'm listening to Linkin Parks "Meteora" and about a minute in, the screen dims and stays that way for the next four minutes (till when I just picked it up to type this message). Haven't done anything to it except for removing and putting back in the SIM card 10 Min ago . Oh, and I haven't updated to the newest firmware yet so that can't be it.

Because every song I don't want to pick up the phone, hit sleep/wake button, slide to unlock, rotate album art, rate song, and then do it all over the next song.

It isn't just the sleep/wake button :p
