i wouldnt do aol imap, i tried it and its slow as heck, but esentially if u set it up on mail.app, u can sync it with iphone.

Heres how to do it.

1. Remove ALL email account from iPhone and i mean all :)

2. Open mail.app, File > add account > imap account > enter email address [Continue]

3.
incoming mail server: imap.aim.com
username: whatever it is
password: whatever it is
[Continue]

4.
Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com
Make sure "Use authentication" is checked
username: your gmail username
password: your gmail password
[Continue]

5.
let the spiny-thing spin for a bit, give it a minute and it will present you with a summary.
[Continue]

6. Sync iphone with mac, the mail account will be automatically transfered

Hope this helps

yes, you have to first get an aim.com 2gb imap account :). Im guessing its down due to the sudden surge of interest by the iphone community, then again i could be wrong :p

Now forward all your gmail to the aim email
gmail.com > login > settings > forwarding and pop > "Forward a copy of incoming mail to..." [enter urNewAimImap@aim.com]

btw dont use iGmail gateway, i jsut got temporarily banend

awesome...

some questions about imap:

after syncing, should i deactivate the aol/imap account on my mail.app... it doesn't need to be downloading right? or should i use the aol/imap account instead to take advantage of imap features?

...and what are the features of imap mail?

thank you so much!
