I'm still amazed by how unusable the TV application is.

Unless I'm mistaken, there is no way for the application to remember the playback position (at least for videos I upload myself). How is this even possible ?

Now, I know there are other video players (VLC, Extreme etc.) but video is supposed to be a core capability ..and i don't want to have to uplad videos specifically for this or that specific app...Especisally since i don't find VLC interface (as one example.. the other apps are not any better), particularly simple or paractical (or even stable).

Why can't we have, a simple effective basic video player for mp4 files on the Iphone.

The Iphone is supposed to be about a great simple experience out of the box !....and it doesn't even come with a deent video player....only this half baked nightmare of a TV.app

This is all the more disgusting that there actually was a perfectly serviceable video player before.

Shame on you Apple !

Have you tried to use a app like Subler to convert your files to protected MPEG-4(.m4v)? I have no problems with the TV-app remembering the playback position on files that I have converted. Have not tried any other formats though.
