TV display is now pink after 10.13.5 to 10.13.6 upgrade

Hello,

Upon the first reboot after the 10.13.6 upgrade, the TV connected to my mac now displays pinkish or purplish images, while my ordinary monitor is fine. When I use the TV by itself (driven by cable TV, not by the computer) the colors are normal.

The computer is a 2009 Mac Pro with a RX560 which has been working fine for months on 10.13.5, and the TV is a Panasonic flat screen which has been working fine for years. The two of them are connected by a DVI to HDMI cable that has been working flawlessly for years.

I've found on the net that some PC and apple TV users managed to switch the color space or HDMI frequency, but I can't seem to be able to do that on my Mac.

i think it has something to do with hdcp.
can you try to connect the tv with the same hdmi cable to another hdmi device (ex. xbox or dvd player)? is the screen then also pinkish?

Sadly, I don't have anything else I could plug it into. But as I said, when I use the TV as a tv and not as a monitor display, the colors are fine.

that is sadly not the goal of the test, becaus i think the problem relies at the hdmi port‘s hdcp function. does nobody around you have a device with hdmi for a short test? that would be the most important thing imho...

can you confirm the actual smoking gun is the OS version 10.13.6? You could do this by booting into 10.13.5

If problem is not recreated on 10.13.5 and is again when going back to 10.13.6 then that narrows it down more at least

do you use any other software for managing monitor resolution like ResXtreme?

I recently bought an MSI AERO 4GB card and the DVI port on the card when connected to HDMI monitor display was giving me similar results.

I posted about this on the forum and was told this was a common issue with this card.
I have since returned the card.

Happens in High Sierra, its fixed in mojave, I’ve had it too at 1080p only

Ok. I booted from a 10.13.5 back-up, and everything works normally. Both the monitor and TV look great. That means that it's a problem with that pesky 10.13.6 upgrade.
