Hi,

Is there any way of getting Tv/Sky on my iPhone 3G?

Many thanks.

Hmmm, thanks guys.

I've seen a few videos on YouTube, take a look. Doesn't say how they do it though.

Heard good things about Orb and the Slingbox but not sure if they work...

I have Orb and Slingbox here and I'm sure neither work at present. Hopefully sooner than later we'll see a Slingplayer and a codec for Orb that the phone will play. For now, YouTube and the like is as good as it gets...nothing live.

What do you think the iPhone is? A regular mobile phone that can stream live TV like every other phone out there?

This phone has a way to go before being great... I hate that my 4 year old treo can do some things that the iPhone/iPod touch can't.

(and this is coming from someone that has an iPhone and 3 iPod Touches)

Live Sky TV on iPhone - 3 months free for O2 customers

Sky is launching a fantastic live TV iPhone App on 9 November and O2 customers can get it for free for the first three months. That means exclusive access to Sky Sports 1, 2 and 3 as well as a host of other sports and news channels including all Premiership matches screened live.

Sky Mobile TV will be available through the Apple App store and normally costs £6 a month. Our iPhone customers can get a promotional code to use during signup for the App giving them three months free by texting Sky to 2020.

The offer will be displayed in retail windows and in other advertising. It will also automatically pop up on O2 customers' iPhones when they download the application – making sure that they are fully aware of this exclusive offer.

Sky Mobile TV will give access to live streaming from Sky Sports 1,2 and 3 as well as Sky Sports News, Sky Sports Extra, Sky News, At The Races and ESPN*. After the three month promotional period the service will cost £6 per month with a one month minimum term.

During the three months free period, we’ll send our customers texts to remind them that they’ll be paying £6 per month for the app after the three months is over. If they’d like to unsubscribe from Sky Mobile TV they can visit www.sky.com to do so.

The App requires Wi-Fi connectivity and does not work over 3G.

Full details of the offer will be available on www.o2.co.uk on Monday.

This exclusive offer is available to all our iPhone customers including:

• Staff & Friends and Family
• Pay Monthly
• Pay & Go
• Business

*some Sky content not included – WWE, HBO Boxing, MLB, Serie A and NCAA are currently excluded.

TVU Player is not bad ,I watched the world series at work.

Interesting, I had never seen TVU before.......not sure that Sky here in the UK is using that though, I heard it will be a Sky standalone app in the store.

Ciao

Will this be available for aussies?!?!?! :(

I guess not, as O2 and Sky don't operate in Australia.

I considered getting this Sky thing -but not being a sports fan, I soon reconsidered. I wish they'd open up the options more to include maybe a movie a month from Sky movies; a few comedy shows (old episodes of Malcolm in The Middle, Simpsons, Futurama etc) - then it may be worth £6/month. But, £6/month for boring sport and news... i don't think so (not in my eyes, anyway)

It's actually an extraordinarily good deal. For £6 you get 4 Sky Sports Channels (normally you would need a basic Sky package for this and then £9 for each channel or £18 for all four), and ESPN (a separate subscription channel at £9 per month).

It's really very very good. Although I would also like to see another app called Sky Mobile TV Entertainment (with E4, Sky 1, Discovery etc...).

This is a fantastic deal - I signed up yesterday.

Even if you end up not using it - 3 months for free it'd be rude not to!

Also works well on 3g - 3gunrestrictor to the rescue.

If only you could output to the telly...

Does it not output with an apple component cable? Catchuptv does...
