Hi everyone,

I am not sure if this has been posted before. If it has, please forgive me. :)

I was watching one of the iPhone TV spots last night and realized that when they show the incoming call at the end of the commercial, the phone displays the caller's name and small photo on top with a nice clean image of what I presume is the user's chosen background in the middle and the Answer/Ignore buttons on the bottom. Nice, clean, and neat.

My phone doesn't work like that! When a call comes in, the caller's photo takes entire middle section. I tried calling myself with the phone locked and unlocked and I was not able to duplicate what the TV spot shows.
Any thoughts?

Jose

i'm sure whatever phone they used for the commercials was only a pre-production model and not exactly the same as the final product. they might have changed the way pictures are displayed, or they might have yet to change the way pictures are displayed. who knows? did you also notice that the ringtone on the commercial, a standard ringer, isn't included on the iphone? that bothers me a bit.

If you pick a photo off your phone for the contact it will be shown full screen. If you assign a photo on your Mac it will show the small photo.

If the photo is from the imported data in your address book it will look just like the commercial - with a small picture.

If you assigned the picture via the phone or edited the picture on the phone it will be the larger image.

My phone looked like commercial but I brought photos in with address book.
Thanks for the info though. I'm sure I would have hit the issue eventually.
Thanks to "FreeState" also.

I love the Mac community!

I find it interesting that Apple dodn't standardize the display of images w/caller ID. They usually do such a nice job of UI consistency.

I like the idea of having the choice. I had to use add on programs on some of my others "smartphones" for full screen caller ID.

you can go in and edit an image under the contact to make it full screen - then look at it when someone calls and then it will be a little clearer why they did this (the image in Address Book is small and the quality sucks large). Its very Apple to do this if you ask me:) Forces smaller images from being enlarged beyond its quality.
