I was wondering if there are any live tv apps that are free or for a subscription. I would defiantly pay that for an ipad.

Slingbox will be a viable option when they finally release their iPad app. The box is a little costly but you pay no monthly fees and you get to stream video from your cable box at home including access to your DVR. I currently use this on my iPhone and love it.

I've heard of slingbox and not sure how it worms but next year I'll be living in a dorm and I'm not sure if that will work. I was hoping there would be an app that had an easy five bucks a month tv access. Something likethat would be perfect for the ipad. Hopefully there will be something that comes out like that.

I'm not sure if this applies, since you said Live TV apps, but ABC has an app that allows you to watch all their shows that are published on the website.

Linky.

MobiTv has an app for iPhone. I don't know how well it works on iPad.

Yep, Slingbox is super cool. Been using their iPhone app (and their PC program). Mine's paired with our TiVo HD box and everything just works perfectly. Can't wait to see their iPad app.

I've been using sling on iPad and it works great. Man if they try and charge another 30 bucks for the iPad app they're gonna get some emails from a lot of angry people!
