Are there any good TV tuners for the Mac? I have a Quad Power Mac G5 and was wondering what's a good TV tuner if there's even any out there.

eyeTV by elgato all the way. They have a variety of tuners firewire and usb 2.0 tuners and awesome software. Check out the site. www.elgato.com

Another vote for the Elgato box, although it's expensive.

Off topic, but I so wish some company would simply release a PCI-X/ PCI-e TV turner card. There are a tonne of PCI based TV turners available on the windows side.

I have no idea about internal tuners, but the El Gato DVB-T digital SD/HD tuners are amazing. I can't fault mine at all. it sits on top of the Power Mac so I don't see it anyway. I'd rate it a 10/10.

Hey just to let you know that I have a PCI TV tuner for my G5, which I got from the Apple store in London for about £50.

It works for me but the picture quality is a bit grainy but that might be the cable I'm using between my sky box and the Mac.

Got the AlchemyTV DVR.

Hope this helps.

Swinggg, I never have seen that before! What kind of software does it use?

I wouldnt be surprised to see Steve give you some help at Macworld. Seems to be the next step in Frontrow (besides making it more functional).

...Well, maybe not this Macworld...maybe MW '07...

...either way, it has to happen soon...

Another vote for AlchemyTV. It's great!

You pay more for quality?

But I find that paying a reasonable price makes more sense than paying rock-bottom prices, from a reliability standpoint.

Did they finally release a proper driver for Leopard? According to their site, they have not supported 10.5

Another Vote for Elgato, also their Turbo 264HD video converter software and hardware is great too.
