Hi Guys,

I'm going to be buying a 27" iMac as soon as the updates arrive:p:p:p i was just wondering do the existing ones have TV Tuner capabilities so you can use it as a TV or not??? If not what's the likelihood of the updated ones having this capability? (I know the last part can't be given a definite answer).

Any help will be appreciated:D:D:D:D

I use the Elgato EyeTV Hybrid: http://www.elgato.com/

Works pretty darn well, easy to record stuff when I want, and works exactly the same as a TV. It's a little spendy, but I bought a used one on eBay for about $60 and it's lasted me close to a year now.

Hope this helps!

Go to http://www.elgato.com/ and check out the newly released EyeTV HD or any of their products. I have their EyeTV 250 Plus and I am very pleased with it, but I am thinking of selling it and upgrading to the EyeTV HD!!!

Another vote for EyeTV; I use the Hybrid and it works well. It's worth checking the specs first though because I believe that Australia uses "strange" frequencies.

I can't really say as I don't know what you use over there (I just know that it's different from here in NZ). It's probably worth checking the EyeTV forums for reports of it working in Australia.

EyeTV works with a LOT of tuners, they have a list on their website. The early ElGato hybrids were just rebranded USB tuners that could be found for much cheaper under different brand names. ElGato design their own now, but depending on your needs you may be better off looking at Hauppage, Pinnacle, SiliconDust, etc. tuners.

Hey guys I am looking into getting a TV tuner for my iMac I have cable at home and at school so I would like something I can record with so I do not have to worry about missing shows at school!

I will be graduating shortly and will probably get HD Cable when that happens so I would like something that can support that I do not really need a remote or a giant antenna to get over the air stuff, I do not really need that. Just something pretty simple aside from the ability to record and store plus HD. I am not too sure about the models and I find the research on this is very hard as I cannot find anyone with real life reviews on the products.

I am in the USA if that helps, please any suggestion is welcome!
