i use an Apple TV with an AirPort Express 2 via airplay 2 to a Bose Cinemate and it can never be set as a default speaker. There are rumours 16.1 allows this: https://9to5mac.com/2022/09/20/ios-16-1-group-multiple-homepods-airplay-2-speakers/
can anyone confirm? If not, I will install the beta later to try.
I also have a HomePod and although it supports Atmos, still sounds like one speaker, unlike the Cinemate which has stereo separation and bass.
I would love Apple to bring out a soundbar
