In addition to the features they note in the update list...... ADS....... The Weather Channel app was perfect but now that ads take up 1/5 of the screen I'm pretty annoyed. Is it possible to download a previous version of the app?

If you are that upset about the ads, you should email them asking for a paid version without ads.

The ad is the same size. It's just at the top now instead of bottom.

Yeah, this used to be my weather app of choice, then I upgraded last week and noticed the ads. It (the ad) takes up the top 1/4 of my screen and it too forever to load for a while last night. I just got out of the app.

I don't know if it's possible to go back to the previous version, but I'd prefer it. Thanks, TWC. :(

Email TWC asking for a paid, ad free version of their app.

FWIW, this is what the pre-2.0 ads looked like... I take it the new ads are significantly larger?

Just grabbed the update over 3G from my desk in Hades. The adds are no bigger...so I don't know what all the cramodgeoning is about. The only difference is they've moved the ads to the top, from the bottom. However, you get full motion radar and much better graphics (i.e., weather icons) than before. Also better Hourly, 36-Hour & 10-Day forecast layouts. All in all, for free still, this is still a good app.

The ad on the new TWC is the exact same size as the ad on the old one. The only difference is that it is at the top instead of the bottom of the screen. Interestingly however, I never noticed the ads on the old version, but immediately noticed them in the new one. Since it is a free app, I don't find it annoying at all, and think that TWC should be congratulated on finding a way to make their ads more noticeable, while not really changing the function or overall look of the app. Also, I think the new radar in motion in the new version is great. Much more informative than the static radar map in the old version.

So here is the before/after (left is the old version, and right is 2.0).

So basically, they just moved the ad from the bottom to the top, keeping it almost the same size. Maybe a few pixels taller. Very /facepalm.

I rather like that they made the lower row of tabs / buttons on the main page larger -- they were hard to click accurately in the old one.

thats weird. i've been using the app for months and never noticed the ads pre-update. I guess thats why the moved them to the top though.... apps are pointless if people dont even pay attention to them. either way, its still the best weather app. But yes, i would definitely be willing to pay for a ad-free app

The old ads were all for Weather Channel shows and were just static (not clickable). The new ads are apparantly paid ones for third party companies. They scroll down to fill the screen when you click on it, and then you can click on it again to get more info.

I don't find the ads that intrusive at all. Animated weather maps was the one feature that I missed in the original version, so I'm pretty happy with the upgrade
