So here's the story:

I am looking to purchase an iMac for use in my bedroom, and would like to hook it up to my Time Warner Cable digital cable subscription to double as a tv. Living in New York City, every inch of space in the apartment is precious, so performing both tasks would be huge.

After poking around it looks like EyeTV is a popular choice, as well as some of the ATI tv tuners. I am a little confused as to the exact capabilities of these devices. Its apparent that OTA signals can be received, but I have little to no interest in those, since I pay money every month for my cable subscription.

My question is, can these devices receive my TWC digital cable signal (and receive all channels)? If so, can anyone comment on the quality, and offer any suggestions for what I am trying to do?

Thanks!

eye tv will get you basic cable to your Imac but limited channels.

If you want to get full cable then you need to buy eye tv and rent another digital box from TWC and use that to change your channels.

TWC charges $12.00/month for another cable box though.

That's the plan... (to get another box).

I just want to make sure that with another box, and eyetv, I will be able to get all channels, and the picture is as good as if I bought a true tv and hooked it up to the cable....
