just bought iPad mini 5 due next Wednesday. Plan on using my iPad 4 bookbook case on my 5. Hope it fits in my bookbook. Anyone tried this on there 5 ? Specs are almost the same.

I read in the forums the case was the same size but they moved the mic and made the volume buttons bigger. Anyone confirm?

What I understand the back mic is moved and the volume buttons are the same size but has moved either up or down, can’t remember

All I can tell you is that the Apple silicone back cover for the Mini 4 fits my Mini 5 just fine. The camera cutout in the case isn’t in the same location as the Mini 5 camera but the camera works fine. I didn’t think to compare the size of the Mini 4 and Mini 5 buttons while I had the two in my hands. I don’t use the mic so that part of the case misfit doesn’t bother me.

The volume buttons have moved up and the camera is higher, to the right.

I tested the camera in a mini 4 silicone case and it’s new positioning does affect the light being filtered in. My photo was slightly darker in the top right.

For me, “slightly darker” doesn’t matter. What would bother me would be if part of the photo were obscured by the case. It isn’t.
