Ok so I was setting up everything in ML and got twitter set up and even installed the Twitter app from the Mac App Store. I get notifications just fine for twitter, but when I click on the tweet in notification center, it opens up the tweet on twitter.com in Safari rather than using the twitter app.

Is there any way to change that or is it pretty much gonna act like that all the time?

It's not gonna change until Twitter updates its Mac app to take advantage of Notifications. I think it's totally embarrassing that twitter have partnered with Apple, yet their official client doesn't take advantage of the newest OS features: Notification and iCloud sync across devices.

Just an FYI, Tweetbox is currently in Alpha and that has properly functioning Notifications, but the App has to be open for them to be pushed at the minute.

Everytime you want to tweet for notes.

Yeah I totally agree, I would have assumed that the twitter app, being official, would have been updated the day of ML's release. Lame.

Use Tweetbot. It has notifications and it's much better than the official Twitter app anyway. And for now, it's free.

I haven't seen a Twitter update on the Mac in months. It is way behind compared to iOS. I wouldn't count on one anytime soon.
