Is there no way to just do a new tweet with the Twitter integration in iOS5? I still have to go into a twitter app to tweet?

There is no way to just do a tweet that only contains text. Otherwise you can tweet from safari, youtube, maps, photos.

Thanks. Hopefully they'll add that in an update. Maybe put a new tweet button in notification center.

Or just download the free twitter app?

Yeah....I have Twitteriffic on the phone now. Kind of defeats the point.

Would love to send a quick tweet from wherever I am (and please no comments on getting a Windows phone).

Easiest way is to setup tweeting via sms on twitter.com and then add a new contact called "Twitter" then you can just say "text Twitter - your tweet here" ?

I think the OP's point was to be able to tweet without launching a Twitter app if you read the original post. This can be done through certain other apps but independently.

Yeah, I think it was clear I understood what he meant. How would someone do this though? Where would it make sense? He said in the notification area... Does that really make sense?

you should be able to send a tweet from spotlight or notification center in my opinion. I don't even use twitter (well I just signed up because of iOS5) but they were playing up this integration so much I thought it would just be there without needing an app.

That being said, the basic twitter app works pretty good.

Set up SMS on Twitter.com (you can text your tweets by texting 40404), then add it in your contacts. Then tell Siri to text Twitter.

I imagine it would be quite easy for Apple to set up Siri so you can just say "Tweet [message here]", but as for somewhere in the OS where you could input text, not sure how they would work that one, maybe Notification Center which I think somebody mentioned.

Other than the Siri part.....I'll have to look into that. I stuck with my iPhone 4.

there is a workaround to do it. set up one your contacts that has a twitter and instead of replying to him erase his @name and type what you want to tweet and send. it works

No only that I have an iPhone 4.....but I really don't want to be standing in line behind the guy with the Justin Bieber tattoo telling Siri:

Check out this guy and his Justin Bieber tattoo!

:p
