So I installed ios5 last night. I can't get twitter notifications to work at all. I've checked all the settings, done a hard reset, did a restore and still nothing. Also for the airport utility it keeps telling me I'm entering the wrong password which I'm not. I can send and receive no problem, but I have to refresh to see if any new tweets came in like I did before.

really confused here

I've reinstalled the app yes. I haven't tried another app. Any suggestions to a simple free one for test purposes with notifications?

I had this earlier... But figured it out for me!

Twitter had an update, and there's now settings within twitter.

Launch the app and on the accounts page, bottom right there is settings, and in here there is notification, and they seem to be set to off by default! Give that a try!!!

I had the same issue. I fixed it by editing the settings in the twitter app itself.

Make sure notifications centre is set as:
Twitter on
How ever many events
banner/alerts
Badge on
Sounds on
View in lock screen on

Next go into the twitter app:
Settings -> Notifications
Messages on
Mentions and replies on
From anyone

Remember you will only recieve notification when someone mentions or DM you. There is no app availabe on app store (as far as I am aware) that will alert you when anybody you follow posts a random tweet.

ok this was the problem. I was under the impression that you would get notifications from anyone who you follow. I didn't realize it was only if you're mentioned or direct messaged (is that what DM stands for)? I just tried tweeting with my account name and it popped up.

thanks

I use tweetbot and it wasn't working, but I have turned on the notifications in the app itself, in addition to the system level Twitter settings, and so far, it seems fine now.

My tweetbot was working last night, but not this morning for the last tweet I received. Don't know why lol.

I think it's working fine now.

My tweetbot still work fine.
Remember to turn on push notification in Tweetbot setting.

Also with push notification you will need at least on of alert/banner, sound, badge turn on.
If only notification center or lock screen turn on it dont work.

sorry for my english
