Twitter notifications

Is there anyway to get the Twitter notifications to open into the Twitter for Mac app rather than into Twitter.com in safari?

Every time I get a Twitter notification pop up I click on it and it takes me to twitter.com in Safari. Can I get it to take me to the Twitter app instead?

I went into System Preferences and then notifications and removed twitter from there.

Then went into preferences within the twitter app and set the notifications from there
