twitterific posted there new 2.1 update nice features ive been using twitterfon pro the last month or two but these features may make me buy twitteriffic i love there UI a lil better than twitterfon so heres the list of features

* Optimized for iPhone 3GS.
* Added a copy menu for selected tweet (tap and hold to see menu.)
* Added a menu for links in tweet. Tap and hold the link and the menu appears with the URL for the shortened link at the top. It also allows you to open the link in Safari or copy it to the clipboard.
* Added a copy menu for the image in the photo viewer (tap and hold to see the menu.)
* Added in-app email support.
* New "Load More..." button to retrieve older tweets in the timeline.
* Added support for recording, posting and playing back video (using yfrog.) (- users need to activate video setting in yfrog)
* Added a photo viewer for images on yfrog, Twitpic, and Twitgoo.
* Added support for GIF and TIFF images in photo viewer.
* Tap on the avatar in the author info view to view the avatar full size.
* Added following and followers buttons to author view.
* Changed links in author view to open in the same author view (by sliding horizontally.)
* Author view layout changes.
* Added new graphics.
* Updated author view to use new relationship API: the status information at the bottom now shows if the person follows you or not.
* Added account picker to the main toolbar and the posting toolbar. (Searches aren't currently implemented.)
* Changed how account picker works: does not go away after you select a user from timeline toolbar.
* Improved the wording for the "launch in sources" setting.
* Improved battery life by changing how location updates.
* Added "Reply" and "Retweet" to tap shortcuts.
* Added password support for Instapaper (and started using "auto title" feature.)
* Added a title parameter when saving a bookmark.
* Default setting for bookmarks (delicious.com) now opens in built-in browser.
* Added Javascript to fix links that use target="_blank" in built-in browser.
* YouTube videos now open with the built-in browser.
* Added landscape support for built-in web browser.
* Updates for Twitpocalypse II -- 64-bit integers are used internally for tweet IDs (which will overflow 32-bits in November 2009.)

Has this update already been submitted to Apple for approval or are they still working on it?

Just updated...wow they improved it a ton. Following/Follower management is really slick...cheers to Iconfactory.

This is my second favorite Twitter app for the iPhone. Overall, I'd give the nod to SimplyTweet, but I am looking forward to the next update to make the fonts bigger.

I think the way Twitterific Premium handles the friends and followers list is probably the best I've seen in a Twitter client. It's quick and easy to get to. Otherwise, Birdbrain is a good option.

This is now the best all around Twitter app. Second I'd rate Birdfeed (better aesthetically and faster) then Tweetie. Tweetie hasn't seen a significant update in months and I hope Loren has something up his sleeve because Tweetie is starting to look dated by comparison.

Agreed, its (IMO of course) #1 unless Tweetie can put out a wonder of an update. It'll be interesting if it looks like the desktop client like he hinted...

But ya, this new update puts it over the line for #1 for me as well. Tweetie has been back burned till its updated :eek:

Tweetie does need an update. It's been ages, but I hear 2.0 is going to be pretty nice. Either way, I seem to come back to using Tweetie even after trying SimplyTweet and TweetDeck.

Was very tempted due to the big improvement over Tweetie of many of the other twitter clients. I looked at Twitterific and SimplyTweet last night and bought SimplyTweet - not much in it I don't think, both seem very good and have gotten some great regular updates.

Tweetie will be getting a MASSIVE update in a few weeks as Atebits releases 2.0. It's based on the desktop version so expect it to be way slicker than it currently is.

Love the Tweetie desktop app... looking forward to what they have to offer in the next iPhone app update! In the mean time, I absolutely satisfied with what Twitteriffic is offering post-2.1 update.

I have the app, probably the free one. Does that mean this feature "* Added Javascript to fix links that use target="_blank" in built-in browser." is not for people who didn't pay? I am baffled why twitterific doesn't allow landscape typing so I was wondering if that's the difference between free and paid.

I thought the only difference is that the paid version has no ads.

Who knows. An app this polished though should have landscape. Texting in portrait is so 2.0. :D

seriously, i was hoping for landscape, not like i have to have it but sometimes it makes things easier. usually when i got a lot to say and rapid replies. :)

Landscape is awful in any app.

This update puts Tweetie to shame. I don't really expect much from Tweetie 2.0 as Tweetie on the Mac is a bit lacking.
